NBD: Epi Non-Reverse
« on: August 09, 2012, 08:51:31 PM »
While on vacation in San Diego last week, this popped up on Ebay:

It is in good condition (probably and 8.5 out of 10) and came with the original hard case. It cost just under $185 delivered  ;D Of course the seller shipped it like a pro. Just slapped a a UPS tag on the handle and shipped it. No boxing, not taped shut, incomplete address  >:( I think I am lucky that I didn't just receive an empty case and that the UPS driver went to each office at our building looking for me. All's well that ends well tho. It is in better condition than I expected, it's a cool color, and you can't beat the price. The neck is actually thinner than the other Epi NR that I own (formerly Dennis' bass). Same nut width, but not as fat front to back. I will be switching out the pickups, just not sure which direction to go with that yet.

Nice score! I'm surprised it has a thinner neck then the other one. somehow I wouldn't think there would be such variances in Epiphones of that era.

i really like that model and the color. around here in atlanta you could tack another 100 bucks on the price tag. guitars are more expensive here than elseware for some reason.

I've had one just like that sitting in my closet, sans tuners, for about 8 years now.

Nothing wrong with those basses except maybe a set of better pups. A steal at that price.

These Epis are sweet players IMO.  The chunkier necks are kind of a nice change of pace, and now I'm curious to see what this neck is like.

You should make a thread with some pics of your Epi goth refin - that bass came out beautiful!

I couldn't believe it when the listing had a $150 BIN price, figured there was a warped neck or something. It hadn't been listed long when I saw it and I was afraid to "sleep on it" so I pulled the trigger.

The neck feels more like the Goth necks that I have: wide but slim and comfortable for my hands. Of course it could all be in my mind but it def feels different to me.

I keep meaning to start a thread about the Goth but it keeps slipping my mind. I will try to do it this weekend. Thanks for the compliment  ;D
