What is the story behind all this?

My original supplier seems to have gone out of business,  About 6-9 months ago I contacted Hipshot (they are about a hour away) While  Bill was trying to get them to make tailpieces for him Bill suggested I contact them to make my bridges. They agreed to make them for me but then after NAMM early this year they got backed up and dropped lots of projects thankfully not mine. I am just glad to have samples and I think it is great that I can say Hipshot makes my product. believe me this is the short version.

I assume that only this prototype is all brass. They will be nickel or chrome, right? Any idea on price point yet?

No notched saddles, price to be determined and the bridges will be nickle plated.

Yeah, what about the tailpiece?  Bill keeps promising, but I haven't seen or heard anything for months.

So Hipshot is going to sell your product worldwide?

Congratulations

Hipshot is making them but not marketing or distributing them. They will however send customers my way who come looking for a vintage Thunderbird bridge. Still no solid answer on tailpieces.

If they come through on the tailpieces as well, there might be a market for the bridges outside of Thunderbirds - Fenderbirds, other custom builds, etc.  That setup would look attractive on lots of basses... and there aren't many options for a quality 2pc bridge setup.

I like the contoured edges too.

Congrats

I mean really!  What good is the bridge if ya can't get the right tailpiece???  The tailpieces alone will have a small market of their own.  Let's hope Bill can get it together at some point.

This. Carlo could get a hold of these and make his JAEbirds even more accurate. (Hard to imagine those things getting any more badass. )

That would be a great option.
