You guys all have nice and perfectly eligible TBirds I'm sure, mine just proves that not everything from the eighties and later is crap. A sentiment sometimes prevalent here.

I played that bass recently at a gig, swapping between songs with my natural Bicentennial. Same setting of (Marshall) rig loaned from other band ("I only play my rig!" is for guitarists and girls, real men get on with the job as long as the darn thing works!). Listening to the (not very high quality) of audio track of the video now I realize that the Korina Bird sounded more even all across the board and had more prominent sustain. The Bicentennial sounded nice, but you couldn't hear everything I played, especially the low range parts didn't cut through.

One more reason to play upper range stuff only!!! Old habits die hard.

I'll bite!

I will only play my rig or those of a few hand selected players that I can trust. Not due to sound as might be expected. I can comfortably get a servicable (at worst) sound out of 99% of anything I've ever played through. BUT, I have had a very high percentage of bad gigs with idiots blowing whole rigs or even just speakers before I get on to stage and the last time this happened I ended up playing with only the FOH sound as my monitor. I've got a great rig and I'm getting too old to put up with that crap any more when it takes less than 2 mins to set my rig up.   /end rant   :P

Maybe.....but I'm close with the 3PUP Custom Shop prototype....or maybe the '86 Custom Shop TBII...or the short-lived GIBSON WEST COAST Custom Shop one built by Roger Giffen (two  down toward the bottom and white one on right.)
