If someone introduced/inducted me voluntarily to any club I'd be nominated for, you can be sure I'd be hell-bent to find out who they were and what they do. Sure, Steve Miller didn't have to know them, but not finding out about them beforehand is unforgiveable.

Old people sometimes forget about manners, it's a common thing. And I don't even like line-ups that have a bass missing.

There are plenty of bands I don't like but at least I know who they are and so do you. Love 'em or hate 'em, they have good size fan base.

i'm a crabby old guy, to celebrity nonsense in particular. however, i did witness a very grouchy steve miller way back. before his 'big success ' days, i saw miller in a half filled auditorium. about 2,000 people. the opening act was trapeze. they 100% killed. after that the crowd could muster little enthusiasm for miller's much milder brand of rock. i'm sure the fact that he didn't sellout the place had something to do with his behavior. a very lack lustre, lazy performance followed. several snide remarks to his band and the audience peppered the entire show. i was close enough to see how pissed off he looked the whole time. it was a relief when it was over and no one was hurt by a flying mike stand. some people.

Leslie West - most unsociable in the '70s.  Then his bass player blew up my Acoustic 360 when they rented it.  In 2000, Leslie had become far friendlier.
Zal Cleminson - I saw him with Nazareth, and approached him as a starry-eyed fan (in my 20's by then), and was quickly disillusioned.

The guys you don't expect can be really nice.  At the same Nazareth show was an opener that was up and coming.  They sounded just like their record at an outdoor gig.  The singer, some guy named Bon Scott, and I drank beer and talked on the riverfront for about half an hour.

yeah, i saw trapeze. i would call it 'you are the music...'tour. 1973/4? original trio and whats his name played a jazz bass. trapeze was on a triple bill with bang and steve miller.
