The Outpost Cafe / Best beer awards/names
« on: July 14, 2013, 04:28:48 PM »
I happened across this and read through it with passing interest.  Not being a huge beer drinker I just skimmed through it - that is until I got to the top 10 beer names - number one has one of the best beer names ever  ;D

The Outpost Cafe / Etsy???
« on: April 28, 2013, 11:25:31 AM »
Anyone selling anything on Etsy?  My wife is an avid photographer and has been giving prints to friends and family for a few years now.  She is getting lots of requests from third parties that have seen her pictures for prints.  She's looking at Etsy but has some concerns about the taxes and such.  Anyone have any experience?

The Outpost Cafe / Win 8?

Anyone using it yet?  Any thoughts?

My desktop Dell is running Vista and I was too lazy to switch it off of Vista but now I'm finally frustrated enough switch.  Looks like I can upgrade for $39.  I've been wanting to run Sketchup for some time now and I need to add memory to do that so I figure I'll finally dump Vista and pull a $90 overall refresh.

The Outpost Cafe / Wild fire tainted water ruins beer?

Doesn't say exactly what is making the water bad - gerneral run off from the forest fire, fire retardent, residential run off from destroyed homes?

I was poking around You Tube tonight and clicked on a half dozen links and stumbled across somehting for Houston/Punk/Power Pop early 80's and recognized a few band names and clicked the guys link.  So there's my old band - the guy knows more about the band than I remember, that might have been the beer, rum, tequilla, etc. fogging my memory, he has our "self produced" single and and even a clip of one of our later live shows.  Keep in mind this was 30 years ago ;D  The single we recorded in less than four hours in Austin and our engineer ran the tape to fast - hence the speed freak tempo.  I remember that studio time and pressing a couple of hundred singles was about a grand and you can hear what little a grand got us.  Pro Tools where were you?

If you dare click on his blog link the rest of it......

Some observations:

A) Damn! Was I ever skinny!

B) I was more or less in tune on the backing vocals - if they could actually be called that

C) I miss my old '62 Pbass and my Acoustic 370   Sacrificed for rent and groceries

D) My wife kept the Betsy Johnson checkerboard shirt and my Beatle Boots - the boots I can still wear :P

E) I'm fairly certain the girl slinking around the floor in front the camera was a stripper that had a thing for our guitarist - same dance,
same speed, not matter what the tempo - hot, sleazy and scary at the same time  :o

F)  Damn!  Was I ever skinny!

G)  At 19 I somehow thought more notes was a good thing :-[

When I was price checking the Lulu I ran across the Mrs. Goggins.  Looks very much like the very early Ric Tulip guitars - this I really like.

God knows she had no peace here on earth with her addicitons and personal demons.  Sad that she couldn't find a way to overcome her addictions.

Bass Amps & Effects / I was just gifted a David Eden VT.40 amp
« on: July 23, 2011, 09:39:33 AM »
But it's broken.  One my of oldest friends just called and said that this amp powers up just fine and at about three to four minutes the LEDs for the EQ section fade out and the sound dies.  He tells me that the mains switch stays on.  This amp is from Eden's early run, dated '94, and my buddy tells me that it was a very pricey beast when he bought it.  He's not interested in spending any more money to fix it as he already spent some dough on new EQ tubes thinking that was the problem.  To me it sounds like the power supply for the EQ section is failing under load but that's just my off the wall guess.

PBG do you have any thoughts on this one?  While I'm a qualified elctronics tech I'm not an amp guy - I can spot cold solder joints, swollen caps, burnt components, check voltages and the like but I'm not much of a tube guy - even though I covered them in detail in tech school.
