Ritter gaf on TB
« on: January 23, 2010, 08:40:25 AM »
i was reading a ritter thread over at Teen Bass. they were chatting about some over the top gold and diamond encrusted and inlaid ritter bass. price tag was 100,000. i made the comment that "if only liberace played bass..." and was swiftly pounced on by a guy called thunderitter. he was really steamed. my bad probably but i was surprised by such swift retribution. oh well, live and learn but i can't seem to grasp the protocol over there. :P ???

What, no linky?  I'd love to read it over!  Personally, I think the Liberace line was well directed  ;D

TB is an enormous site, and the people range from absolute beginners to boutique snobs.  I actually left there for a few years because it got so bad.  There's a lot of good info and people over there, but also a lot of crap to wade through.  There's always a monthly thread on Tal Winkenfield, and always a dozen people asking what the best bass for ______ is.  You take it for what it is.

De gustibus non est disputandum.

This Latin adage came from the Roman scholar Liberacicus.

To my eyes, Ritters are ugly as sin.

I had saved some pics of one sporting stealth tuners, controls, stash boxes, etc...  I think this belonged to a TB member, and I wanna say it costs somewhere in the $teens.  This one just has a pepper rub...  diamond crust'll run ya extra!  :P

I'd feel like I need some Wootenchops™ to play a bass like this.

Very un-German if I may say so. Not tidy and symetric. A Ritter would have had a hard time joining the Waffen SS.

Not my cup o' tea, thank you.

I like glammy!

That looks like an instrument for someone that actually "plays" bass, me? No. I beat away at it  ;)

I agree Ritters are ugly.

I hang on TB a lot....and if someone made the Liberace crack at me, I'd probably ask if they were related - or if they just liked the cape.

Some's more sensitive than others... you probably came upon someone who owns one and has been the butt of some ugly humour from his "buddies" for some time... you were the straw...
