Woodstock 40th Anniversary

Yes, it was 4 decades ago & still seems pretty fokkin amazing!
There's some pretty cool memorabilia to be had.
Cool to see some of the bands that didn't make it to the movie.
Mountain was good:



Just found out tonight that Corky Laing was just their roadie at Woodstock!

I went to the West Coast version which was not even half the people.
Newport '69 @ Devonshire Downs in Northridge, California was a 3 day festival too.
It was weak tho. Saw Hendrix but he SUCKED. He'd gotten busted just before going on & was stoned out & weirded out. Alas
I saw the movie 10 times tho with all my friends & girlfriends from school.
My bud Steve who's the guitarist in my 2 bands saw it all.
He said MOUNTAIN was his fav next to Hendrix!!
I have the whole Hendrix set on video. Highly recommended

Nice EB-1 sound. Funny, it only occurred to me now that Pappalardi was a pick player. Kind of Jack Bruce'ish with a pick.

I believe N.D. Smart was their first drummer, he played for Barry and the Remains (Boston) on a few of their later tunes and was great. I don't know where he came from or what happened to him. What a great fuzz tone of Felix's bass.
I saw them twice three piece during the early 70's, great band.

Only got to see them once, long after Felix was gone, supporting Deep Purple in '84(?)...

N D Smart II is still around and occasionally playing... Worked with Todd Rundgren for a while in the 70's...

Neil Young missed the cut, too, with an "unreleased" song with CSN&Y called "Sea Of Madness" - this version is from Big Sur - not a LOOOOONG song, only around 4 minutes, but watch on if you want to see Steve Stills being restrained after a bit of an issue with a member of the crowd... NY is not playing guitar here but on Stills' Hammond B3... one of NY's great "lost" songs...

Nothing worse than a belligerent hippy. They were good live.
