Other Bass Brands / Re: I spent the night with a Hag

Keep in mind that Hagstrom made accordions long before making guitars. Same with Pigini (EKO). That would explain the pushbuttons and switches.

Exactly. Sales of accordions dropped in the late 50's when rock 'n roll stepped in. They had loads of parts and decided to use them on the guitars.

1. Follow your heart. You might not want to rush things though. I have a white semi beat up body refin one with odd holes behind the bridge which I immediately after purchase decided I'd refinish. It took a while before I aquired paint etc. When it was time for refin I'd grown to love it as is. Just one of those things....I like the finish on yours.

2. What Fräulein said. Move it!

3. I've only heard good things about the Plek process but have no experience myself. It seems important that you know exactly what setup you prefer since the Plek is made to optimize the frets for a specific neck setup and string height.

4. If you think the Epi case not being adequate you should be able to get a Gibson case from any Gibson dealer if they have'nt skipped selling cases as they did with other bass parts.

Also, like Fräulein said, check the wiring. My Whitey was wired in parallell and that was no good. It could have been the pickup setup but when both volumes were on 10 it had a thin sound to it. I wired it in series like it was from the factory and it sounds better than my Sunburst '76.

About the SG Reissues. I was looking at the Ishibashi page a couple of days ago and the more pics I see of the Classic Whites the more convinced I become that the fretboard is Ebony. Could it be like the TB IV they put Ebony boards on the whiteys?

Nice project. You sure know how to keep being busy, and what better way than building/restoring basses. Is the mahogany neck your own build?

Nice flock of II's. Ah yes, the Åhden brothers. It has been quiet around them for a while.

Of course Kim Wilde 2008 isn't Kim Wilde 1981 either.  :D

I'd say she's still ok:

Yeah that was interesting. I advice sensitive viewers to look the other way now.

why would a Swedish group do "kids in America"? and that was by far the worst Ramones cover i ever heard

Because in a kind of cheap way it appeals to kids and old Texans? :P

The band Shebang consists mainly of those two girls but the blonde has been replaced with another blonde (see Kids in America vid). Marina grew up in my neck of the woods and parts of the band I play in used to be on the same record label as Shebangs current label. At the time of that video they were endorsed by the Scandinavian Gibson wholesales company which equipped the backing band with Epiphones.

Being a Swede I grab the opportunity to nominate Dr Boguslaw Pawlowski for the Nobel Physics Prize. Wish him good luck.  :P

Gibson Basses / Re: Hello, I am A Gibson Bass addict......

With each Gibson bass comes new sonic colors, every model is a new adventure.

That's a large part of the addiction. Same brand. Different sounds and shapes. Guess that's why we're so open minded here.
