Epi EB-3 Elitist ?
« on: December 08, 2010, 07:21:20 AM »
Been following this baby for some time. Did ask the guys at Ishibashi if this really is an Elitist, because I can't see the Elitist logo on the back of the headstock and it doesn't say Elitist on the TRC. They were kinda puzzled themselves and promised to get back to me.

Did mention this on the dutch basgitaar forum. Rob Basvarken reacted saying that, as far as he understood the complex Orville > Orville by Gibson > Epiphone history, all MIJ Epi's are considered Elitists. That really tickles my curiosity bone so can anyone here please shine a light on this subject ? Cheers !

That's not what I said. Not all MIJ Epiphones are automatically Elitists!
All I said is that the Fuji Gen Gakki produced Orville, Orville by Gibson and Elitist and they're all basicly the same quality
(as well as Greco and Burny from the same factory)

As far as I can see that Epi you found on Ishibashi is an Elitist.

Hey Droom, if you're looking for an Elitist, there's a guy here in Italy selling one for less. Same as the one from Ishi. I can help you if you want, i know him from another forum.

If it's officially an Elitist, then it has US-made pickups. I don't know about the pickups in the non-Elitist versions.

I'm only interested in buying if the Italian guy's got a real Elitist for sale ( so one that's got the Elitist logo on the back of the headstock etc ). If so, yes please !

Epi Japan made some limited editions a while ago. This is one of those models, and they are usually know as YEC series (Yamano Epiphone Custom). And they are distinguishable by the open book headstock.
One of those series were even nitro lacquer finishes and were obiviously called YEC Lacquer series.
Pickups on those are by Gotoh.

I have an Elitist from when they were still being made. It looks like this one, but has the Epi rounded headstock. Good bass, bit like a seventies Gibson EB-3 in sound and feel.
