That sounds like Lee Sklar's new Warwick - that Kraut brand with willing Dutch collaborators - which has a three way switch that does exactly what it is supposed to do: nothing at all. Lee says it helps ending fruitless discussions with engineers and producers, making everyone happy in the process. A wise man, the mind is a powerful force. 
I read about his "producer switch" a long time ago. Funny that they put it on a production bass! When I had the pickups replaced on my fretless Kramer, I had the guy leave the 3 toggle switches on it, even though they don't do anything.
