My Friend Dale
« on: February 18, 2011, 11:25:57 AM »
The posters here are more like brothers and sisters to me than anyone will ever know. It is because of this I ask for your kind thoughts for a friend of mine who is losing his wife to cancer.

I believe I have mentioned Dale here before, the friend of mine since high school who is a highly decorated Marine and fought on 881 South under the command of Skipper Dabney. If I have not, then here is a piece of history, Dale is pictured in his role as a sniper starting about 1:58 and again with a full face view of him @ 5:50. The guy leaning against the wall.

The point is, for all he has been through and still suffers from (PTSD), it will pale compared to what he is going to be going through watching Twyla pass and I am the one who had to tell him what to expect in a phone conversation two days ago. It was one of the toughest things I have ever done.

Thank you for all your thoughts and kindness. Dale was awarded the Bronze Star for Courage above and beyond the call in this action for saving the life of a wounded Marine by carrying him on his back and running back to firebase while under heavy mortar and rifle fire.

My friend Dale with his son Scotty now:

Thank you brothers and sisters.

Dale is lucky to have you to help him through this bitterly difficult time.  God bless all of you.

Condolences to your friend Dale. I've lost too many to cancer, including both parents.

This is horrible, losing a loved like that. But you'll be around for him and so will hopefully others. And he'll have the time for a proper good bye to his wife which can help the healing process later on.
