Hi Jamie, What you need is the Dasson Badbird bridge  ;D It provides intonation without modification for your vintage Thunderbird. The bridge mounts on the original Gibson mounting studs, no holes to drill and no damage to the bass.(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v102/godofthunder59/67TBthumbrest002.jpg)(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v102/godofthunder59/redbirdsbassdassonbridge.jpg)(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v102/godofthunder59/100_2442.jpg)(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v102/godofthunder59/Tompetersson2_1.jpg)(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v102/godofthunder59/Tompetersson2_2.jpg)

Yes, an invention as good as if it were German. Have it on five basses.

How much does the Dasson Badbird bridge sell for? I know the intonation sucks with the original Gibson bridges but how do the stock Bachbird bridges compare? Did Bach make any adjustments when designing theirs to compensate for the problems of the original Gibson bridge? Does the Dasson come with the tailpiece too?

Basvarken/Rob asked BaCH to make the bridge a bit wider, so it's good!

Tailpieces are evidently made of unobtanium. Believe me , I've tried. The bridges rock, got 3 of 'em!

As a Ricster - that bass that is so notoriously unfriendly to sensible intonation accessability - what else would you be able to say, Ilan?  :) Playing a Ric means setting intonation once (well, a couple of times as it is trial and error) with a new set of strings and then praying that it won't need further adjustment until the next set of strings! It's a love, hope & faith bass.

I can't say enough about the  Dasson bridge.  Precision quality that is good enough to be called German engineered (Sorry Scott).

Its a sweet piece of craftsmanship, well worth the money. Best part is it just goes right on in place of the old bridge, no headaches.

LOL... The trick is to set the intonation with an old set of strings. I keep them forever on the bass, I love deadwounds.

I  can't get my lazy ass machinist buddy to make more tailpieces for me.  Maybe eventually, I keep bugging him.

You can buy this tailpiece from Mike Lull, if you order it far enough out you can have it in Nickel too, I like chrome.
