looks like it, but does look really light colored.

what a rude little upstart this seller:
NOTE!!!! Please don't ask me to get you a shipping quote. I've given you the details and the weight, and you know where it's coming from. Especially you overseas guys - get your OWN QUOTES! How the hell am I supposed to know what the cheapest shipper is to France? If you ask me for a quote, I will send you a rude reply and post your question at the bottom of the auction, and you will feel great embarrasment!

Let's all mail him an ask him for a shipping quote! :)

1,500 starting bid :o

I think freshly sanded mahogany is lighter. I remember taking my first postal victim headstock crack to my luthier - I wasn't sure it had happened in the post - he confirmed it had. In an old break the mahogany darkens.
I suspect this will darken if left untreated - no idea om a timescale for that though.

Oh, my. Not only is it within driving distance for me, but I have an old Gibson pickup and a Schaller bridge that would be perfect for this. The hard part is convincing my wife that there's a good reason to move on that.

maybe I'm unsophisticated...seems like a lot of dough for a dead carcass...
-
somehow I don't like EB-1 basses.
I would prefer a Hofner.

You're not alone. $1500 starting bid on a project bass carcass with no serial number and no history? Fuhggedaboudit!

I think you should still ask for a shipping quote... just in case.
I would prefer a Hofner.
Me too :)
I'm especially liking the sound of the Hoffie here:

yes, Scofield rocks! great guitar playing and a nice funky bass sound indeed.

That is pretty steep. It think the thing that bugs me most is the chunk out of the bass side of the pup hole, and it looks like a block has been glued into the face right under the pup hole as well. Faint squared off lines - it looks like it was patched ok. That is hard to cover up in a refin, and getting that weird f-hole stencil would be a bear. So no parts, and some damage make me sad, as that was something you could've paid a couple of hundo on ebay for just a few years ago.
I think what bugs me even more is I have everything but the pickguard to finish her off.

Unusual phrasing for a jazz gitarist, very rhythmic, not your usual quick rush through various scales.
