Incongruous as it might seem ...
« on: August 11, 2016, 09:03:37 AM »
... I really dig this, the whole album is excellent ...

Really varied too:

We've taken too much for granted ... and all the time it had grown ...
From techno seeds we first planted ... evolved a mind of its own ...

It's not those who write the laws that have the greatest impact on society.  It's those who write the songs.

I just saw the tour a couple weeks ago with Buddy Guy. To be honest, the vocals on the record aren't working for me, but it came off better in a live setting. I get the message in the lyrics, but I think they're pretty cliche/predictable. If I have to pick a favorite guitarist, it's Jeff Beck, and I really admire the way he's always trying new things. At the same time, I'd love for him to do a tour featuring material from Blow by Blow, Wired, and There and Back. But kudos for not becoming a nostalgia act!

"Jeff Beck plays notes that aren't on my guitars."

Ritchie Blackmore

He's for sure the best guitar playing car mechanic on earth.

Contrary to what James Bond says, a good Gibson should be stirred, not shaken.

That's a respectable fish indeed. In its last moments that little salmon must have felt, uhum, if not the Presence of the Lord, then at least that of a graffitti god. Not all those encounters are pleasant if you're at the receiving end. Or maybe he released it again, not that they are an endangered species out there.

Does that other Yardbirds guy then, Jimmy I believe is his name, do anything noteworthy - aside from satanism I mean?

Just doing stuff like this I guess.  I've never kept up with him very much.

You can spend your life doing litigation, I should know!

Beck to back or the other way around. Upon hearing Loud Hailer in the car and saying nothing for a while, my son thoughtfully quipped: "Jack White after music school?"   :rimshot:

LOL.  That's a good one.

When it comes to his discography, Beck has so much to offer. A friend and I were just talking about "Beck-Ola" the other day.

I've listened to much of "Loud Hailer."  Not quite what I might have expected, but I like it.

Talking about the hot place, Jimmy's old gaf by the shores of Loch Ness burnt down...
The random mind of a Silver Surfer...
If research was easy, it wouldn't need doing...
Staring at that event horizon is a dirty job, but someone has to do it; something's going to come back out of it one day...

I don't like that processed 'rawk chick' singing voice. They were playing The Pretty Reckless a lot on radio fairly recently, and their singer has the same voice. Girls don't have enough testosterone to pull this shit off. Sorry ladies!
