In case you can't see:

As of now, all 4003/4003S basses will be shipped with our new tailpiece. Now with easily adjustable saddles and intonation. Swipe left to see how the strings are mounted to eliminate tail lift. Contact your Rickenbacker dealer of choice to order one to retrofit onto your older bass. #rickenbacker #rickenbackerbass #4003 #madeintheusa #santaana

It must be good if it took them 62 years to develop!

Too bad they kept the mute ribcage that disables palm muting.

It looks more like the original that way. For palm muting near the saddles you have the Hipshot replacement.

Agreed. It's nice that they addressed a couple of the problems associated with the old bridge/tailpiece, but that mute thing.... I just don't get it.

I had a brass Hipshot. It weighed a ton and changed the tone. Switched to the aluminum one and it had wobbly saddles. Went back to the old block of wood/piece of plastic/Schaller.

The Ric-Boutique now has the new 4003-V2 Tailpice and bridge for sale, I ordered mine this morning to replace a nasty Badass bridge on my 73-Fretless  :)

I'll keep the thread updated on installation and setup

Ben Hall posted this on the RRF: "FYI, the routing for the new tailpiece is different. You will need to drill holes in order to install a Hipshot on new 4003's going forward."

I suspect that's a deliberate move by Ric.

It won't take Hipshot too long to align the screwholes in their replacement bridge with the new design - that is how capitalism works!
