The pickups sit in the covers very tightly, yet I could still pry them out, so I'm not worried.

I am worried though that some of that wax came off an end of one of the blades. Maybe the epoxy will keep it from going bad, but I guess I wasn't sure if the wax did more for it.

Are you talking about this area on top with the clear substance?



Mine had it too, and it felt to me like a blob of silicone caulk that they used to adhere the coils to the plastic covers prior to potting them in epoxy.  I don't think that's anything to worry about.

Yes that stuff. On the upper left hand corner, you can sort of see where that "wax" or whatever it is, is not completely covering the blade. But after reading some info on Bartolini pickups, they say that the epoxy is what helps the pickups. So I agree, I think that was just there to help the pickups adhere to the plastic covering.
