Jam Room
« on: January 04, 2011, 12:33:18 PM »
I've been wanting to dig through some of my remaining albums and cover up some marks on our Jam Room walls (it used to be our guest room) for years now.  Finally got around to it before the Holidays:

My designated bass corner - My first ever bass is now a clock.

Thanks guys.  It was fun to do, and my kids got to pick out some of their favorites.  My wife helped me put em all up.  Quite a great night.
Ironically enough, these albums were some of the survivors of the 100-year flood in central Australia in 1988. I lost quite a few in that storm. That flood was probably no where near as bad as what they're experiencing right now. Best of luck to everyone dealing with that.

Nice set-up - did you originate from "God's Own..."?

Now that you bring it up...it's directly below this bonus room in the garage.
I see a dumbwaiter installation in my future.
Thanks Denis.

I went back up and checked; there's 4 Heep albums hanging up there.  They were a cool band.

Return to Fantasy, Wetton's first with UH after the lackluster Wonderworld, Thain's swansong (heroin was taking its toll on the frail New Zealander). Basically their last commercial success with the Byron line up and heavily pushed at the time in the UK via TV adverts which was treading new ground for rock albums.

The title track was a killer, kind of Easy Living revisited in epic Lord of the Rings format. Here's a contemporary live version with a flat David Byron aided capably by Wetton's backing vox. By that time, Byron was drinking and prancing around too much, thinking he was the star of the band which ousted him soon after (with Wetton leaving on his own as well). He and Wetton got on along famously in UH though, the bond of fellow alcoholics I guess.

And Rainbow Rising's iconic cover, jawohl!!!

Now I want to be 16 again!!!
