I finally got round to installing the Gotoh Res-o-lites on my Epiphone Jack Casady Signature.
The pegholes were too wide for the Gotoh bushings, so I had to fix that first. I used two component car filler to make the holes a nice snug fit.

While I was at it, I cut off the top end of the headstock and gave it a Gibsonized look  .

Very nice work.  I didn't know they had neck dive problems.  Those tuners make a big difference.

i think the original headstock looked better. didn't you just take some value away from the jack to make it look more gibson? i don't think i would buy a bass that's had the body tampered with in that manner. my opinion.

Some people would agree. I think Rob is less concerned about resale and more concerned about making the bass more playable for him.

I think it's like the "tribute" work on the Bach's... Tom's right, per-se, re the value, but perception is all that is and post perception most people tend to prefer the shape of the Gibson as opposed to the Epi head...
I value function above form and I'd sacrifice form for function any day... but if you're asking me for advice... sheesh... pass the squirrel will ya...

I understand what you're saying Nofi.
But I already did an irreversible modification to the body years ago; I took out the original Electar pickup and put a Gibson Lo-z bas pickup in. To make that fit I had to cut away some of the top of the body. No regrets to this day.

I'm not really interested in the resale value of this bass because I don't plan on selling it.
It is one of my main weapons of choice for gigs and recordings, so I prefer a better sound and better balance over original looks.

The shape of the headstock is bit of a nod to the Les Paul Signature Bass. I don't think it really makes a big difference for the balance

Very nice work there.  Aren't those tuners available in two different shaft diameters?  Do you have a picture of the back of the headstock?

You can only choose between long or short shaft type. The diameter is the same on both.






I actually ordered the  GB528S (S for short). But they sent me the GB528 (long). Not a big deal.


When I get the chance I'll make a pic of the backside of the headstock too.
