The Outpost Cafe / Leaving one band for another..
« on: June 30, 2013, 06:56:12 PM »
Gang..

Looking for some input...been jamming original stuff with a few guys since last year..November I think.   Great guys, but the project never engaged me at any one point in time...I just went thru a three audition process with another band for their bassist...and it's much more up my ally.  I've got the gig, and there's a lot of potential with these guys.

I'm hittin 40 this year, and the band I got into has some big potential and material ready to go (and all are very talented....drummer will really push me to be a better player), and really my best shot at hittin a dream.

I'm at a loss on how to tell these guys I'm moving on.  I plan to be honest, but is a phone call to the 'leader' a bit crude?  They are moving on so much online stuff etc...and want photos done on Monday...I won't get to meet them all and tell them at once where I'm out of town.

Thoughts?

Gibson Basses / Why Sixx went to Schecter....
« on: April 29, 2013, 08:07:39 AM »
From a Metal-sludge link..

Sixx stated about his switch from Gibson to Schecter: "I was very loyal to Gibson for a lot of years, [but] towards the last few years it sort of became … the quality of the instrument became not very consistent and it became frustrating for me … some would sound great and some wouldn't.

The Outpost Cafe / American Metal: Camaro, Mustang or Challenger
« on: November 16, 2012, 09:12:59 AM »
With 40 yrs coming up, and a severe boredom/lack of excitement going on these days (don't get to talk about bass that much :) , I'm looking at a new car to replace the 2002 Honda coupe - Does anyone here have any first hand experience with either of these three - based within these years: 2007-2010?

1) Chevy Camaro
2) Dodge Challenger
3) Ford Mustang

Leaning toward a 2009 Challenger w silver & black decals that is very well priced for my region.

Rickenbacker Basses / 4003 and string selection...
« on: January 23, 2012, 10:31:46 AM »
At the risk of this being a dumb question.....I'll ask anyway:

The finish on a 4003 fretboard is not what I'm used to playing on..clearcoated of some sort???  My stings of choice for my Thunderbird for 5 years or so has always been 40-95 Rotosound 66's....

..are those strings OK for the finish on those fretboards?
