Birth of a bass; The first Brooks EB-PL.
Long scale (34"). Mahogany body. Mahogany set neck. Bone nut. Single coil handwired pickup. Schaller lightweight tuners. CTS pots, Sprague capacitor.
Almost ready. Only a few details left to do.
I'm pretty excited about this one! \m/

That looks great Rob!! Impressive work.

Wow, looking good.. That single coil back there reminds me of Carlo´s EB0 :)
-
Great job, Rob!

Little bit!

I thought this was CAR when I saw it on facebook. Classic cherry works too!
-
Great! I like that body shape!
-
Nice combination of visuals from different brand lines!
-
Yeah that was the idea.
Body shape (construction and wood) of the fifties EB-0.
Long scale plus single coil of a fifties P.
Location of a Stingray pickup.
Thanx guys.
I'll post soundclips when it's finished. Still have to do some minor things.
-
I really like that. Beautiful!
-
I've been kinda busy. Still haven't done the final touch. Need to level, crown and polish the frets. But after that, she's ready.
Did shoot some pics though ;-)

Curse those Euro-winter non-sunny days... can we blame that on the EU...? ;)
-
Looking good!
-
Very cool ! What does it sound like?
-
I'll make sound clips (or a video) when I have it 100% ready.
Here's the idea:
Mahogany body and glued in mahogany neck for warmth
Quarter Pound single coil for powerful output, punch and growl.
Pickup in the StingRay position for bite / aggression.
The tone pot is the secret weapon. You can dial from dark / growly to clear bite.
Favorite position is between 3 an 4 on the potentiometer.

Nice

Good work bud; that's sexy as hell. Never seen a truss rod adjustmwent like that in the middle of the last fret.
-
The bass is finally ready. It took me a while to get the frets levelled and crowned. But now she's all good.
Here's a quick demo.
EDIT:
(the video from last night as a bit too dark and not tuned properly. So here's a new one)

Very nice, Rob.

Topnotch!
-
Nice bass and good job on Ride on a pony. Surprisingly balanced tone for a single pickup back by the bridge.
-
Nice!
Is that a custom import?
Google is not helping me here.
-
Really beautiful bass, Rob! And nice in-your-face sound, too! Love it!

Haha, no it's homebrew.
Check the build process here:

WOW!!!
Really nice!
By the way, my post was meant to read "was that a custom or a one-off import?"
The spokewheel truss-rod adjustment is a really unusual choice.
I like it a lot.

Cool tone. Nice work!
-
I like it a lot!
When will number 2 be built and will it be available in TV Yellow ;D
-
I think I'll be starting No. 2 this week. Haven't decided upon the color yet. There's still lots of time to think about that. ;)
