I woke up at 3:30 this morning wanting to listen to the Allman Brothers.  Little did I know what was about to happen.
It's not those who write the laws that have the greatest impact on society.  It's those who write the songs.

It's been a long time coming... rip Gregg...
The random mind of a Silver Surfer...
If research was easy, it wouldn't need doing...
Staring at that event horizon is a dirty job, but someone has to do it; something's going to come back out of it one day...

Another legend gone.
Rest In Peace Greg and thanks for all the great music.
Nothing is what it seems but everthing is exactly what it is.

I can't even say for sure how many times I've seen him. Maybe twenty, maybe more? Very sad, I'm running out of heroes and I'm running out of friends .
RIP

Thanks  for that ;), but damn it I am feeling alone. The last couple years all my heroes in music have bought it, my friends have been dropping one after another. A year and a half ago my long time friend and lead guitarist died, a month ago my harp player died, a couple of guys I used to jam with are gone and a couple more aren't likely to be here much longer. Went through a triple bypass myself a couple of months ago.
This gettin' old shit ain't for sissies, and if I ever get my hands on that SOB who coined the term "golden years" he's likely to get my last and greatest ass kickin'  in my long history. Well , I got that out of my system ;D.
Back to business , once again RIP to a great hero and inspiration of mine.

For all his failures and personal battles, a deeply likable man and an iconic figure of US rock.

Let's get some electric romance in here! (Yup, I own up to owning the album!)

And what it spawned ...

As some of her hair styles and sartorial Blitzkrieg attacks go  , Cher has always deserved a Medal of Honour, here before they went "official":

Even I have not got that album...

I prefer my original first pressing of this record. :)

You have a point, I would rate that slightly higher too.

I really liked Greg Allman's voice and writing more than the other white Southern R&B/Soul guys like Leon Russell and Dr John, etc.

I never really "got" the  her thing. Must've been drugs or he totally lost his way after Greg and Berry died and then the ABB broke up. Just a weird period.

A friend of mine from decades ago ended up managing the ABB from the 80s until the end. I'm sure it was no small chore.

I accidentally woke Greg up once. I had to do something with Allen Woody and called before noon where the band was....got Greg by accident. You would never think that morning voice could ever sing a note.

RIP, man.
