That looks nice, and he still has the mute and cover.  I would think if he is looking for that kind of money he should get that on ebay, and probably should have sold it last summer.  I would be curious to watch how prices go on these over the next year or so.  Economics and changing govt policies aren't looking too positive for second and third tier instruments.

Extra strap button on the top horn, and it looks like paint checking on the back of the neck.

Great looker. I had one exactly like this, same year, same color, not unlike Candy Apple Red, slightly darker. Mine had the mute and pickguard. It played nice and was very comfortable but I wasn't big on the muddy tone. When the mute was engaged it threw the bass out of tune by almost a quarter step. Under-string mutes do this more than over-string mutes (or palm muting).
