this can't be good.

I saw the Starcaster-brand on this year's NAMM. I thought for a moment they reissued the Starcaster but no. In a seperate booth they had cheap Squier-ish starter sets under the Starcaster brand.

These aren't new. The J Starcaster has been around at least two years and the Strat version about four. They have been at Costco, Sam's Club and Best Buy, don't know if they still are. They cost about the same as the Affinity Squiers, FMIC probably wanted a different branding for those stores.

At that price, where is it made? Haiti?
-
They aren't good but they aren't horrible, at least compared to the junk Kay used to import 30 years ago.
-
But, has it anything to do with Fender?
-
Yes, they are Fender products.
