This is not a knock on vintage NR Thunderbirds. I love them and always will. But... I look at that admittedly beautiful bass and I say to myself, "Self, is that bass worth $9500 more than a new Bach Bird to you?" And my self is answering, "No." Even with unlimited funds if I bought that bass I'd be afraid to play it outside the house. If I ding up or even destroy a Bach, I can just get another one (for now, anyway). Even if, compared to the real thing, it's only 90% there (and that's a low estimate in my book), the Bach is still, dollar for dollar, the winner here.
