She's a hot little ticket, indeed!

If this is an original cardinal red and the headstock is unbroken, then she's indeed something we haven't seen for a long time and in excellent condition.
Can't be from 65 though, that was still the rev era.
-
We know Scott is watching this. 8)
-
Watching...............................about all I can do, not sure how to prep the missus for something like this. :o
-
Look at it this way: You'll be without a home, but with another Bird!
-
It looks like it even has the original mutes under the bridge cover.
-
That is one beautiful bass! I have the feeling it'll fetch some $$$$
-
Schenectady NY my back yard...........................I could go pick it up. ;D

That would be two T-birds I did you a good turn on!
I bet I could sell my all my basses and not have enough to snag this one. I'm curious to see what it eventually goes for. I think in the past year it's only the third NR I've seen on eBay, and one of those was pretty mangled and still went for almost $2k.
-
Denis I'll give you credit for the '76 but I have been watching this since the hour it popped up ;)
-
Hahaha, I know you were. I was just pulling your leg a bit!
-
Yeah lol I know. Consider it pulled ;)
-
It'll be interesting to see what it goes for in this economic climate. I know of a burst IV in equal condition that went for $8000 about three years ago, so we'll see. This one being a rare color is one up on that one though.
-
I read over on Jules site that Glen Cornick's NR Thunderbird he had when he played with Wild Turkey was one of the metallic green ones. That HAS to be rare! Does a breakdown on colors for the NRs exist?
-
I should just buy another Bach and put this thing out of my head.
-
I live about 10 miles from that bass.
-
I should just buy another Bach and put this thing out of my head.
Buy 4 BaCHs and put this thing out of your head... ;D
-
Or, sell a kidney and take it home guilt free ;)
-
Whats a kidney worth ?
-
That depends what that Non-reverse is up to now!
-
You know Scott, sooner or later you are going to put a model G in it, so you might as well get the Bachbrid.
...Just trying to save your marriage ..... ;D
-
Damn... just drooled all over the keyboard... 8) 8) 8)
-
I'm speechless...... :P
-
It's still comparatively low. I find that weird unless the market for vintage gear has collapsed even more than I thought. Or something we all don't see is wrong with the bass.
You'd have expected that the bass be by now in a range where only "big boys" still bid. BTW since some of you asked: I'm not gonna be one of them. I'm happy with my refin pelham blue Non Rev IV my luthier resurrected from a horrible super glue neck break repair.
You heard that right, I don't collect for fins. :)
-
... But this isn't a refin, and your one isn't original... ;D
-
Kenny please be quiet  ;)
-
(Damn... sorry Bro...)
Uwe, I've had a re-think... there is absolutely no point in having multiples of what is essentially the same instrument... ;)
-
Now I'm bidding on it, i.e. have instructed my investment bankers to do so for me.
-
Just joking, I'm happy with what I got. We all should be.

I am very happy with what I have, I am one lucky mofo for sure. My collection of birds is rather motley It would be nice to have something of real collector quality. With the economy being the way it is this may be a rare chance to get a collectors piece for a bargain. I don't think it will stay low, the big guns will come out and most likely soar past my highest bid, but a fellow can dream right ?
-
It's true, it could be an investment. But that's just not the way I tick, I never buy a bass with the intent of selling it later, certainly not a Gibson bass. I guess some of my pieces have grown in value, but that is not something I keep an eye on. In balance sheet terms, my Gibson basses are "fixed assets".
And then there is the emotional attachment thing, my TB IV Non Rev was a huge reconstruction job (ugly neck break and neck reset) and turned out so lovely, I'd feel bad getting in an unharmed one now to replace it or relegate it to being the "2nd wife" . I've spent so much money on resurrecting basses when I could have just bought a new one in better shape, but I find resurrection more gratifying than the vintage virginity of any particular bass.
-
...but I find resurrection more gratifying than the vintage virginity of any particular bass.
That's why I'll never sell that beat-to-hell P-bass I resurrected and why I started on that Ripper project. The satisfaction of the first project directly led me to the second.

I also expect this to jump up at the last minute. But you never know. Just don't let yourself get sucked into a bidding war.

It's me basses sister!
(except mine is a refin)

Mine is just sitting in the closet.
There something about a redbird that looks right to me. I guess it was all about the three pickup gold hardware guitar version firebirds.

(am I allowed out of the corner yet, Scott...?)
-
Uwe, that pelham blue (?) NR just kills me! Beautiful bass.
-
(am I allowed out of the corner yet, Scott...?)
ah Kenny you never were, all in good fun mate :)
-
Just the old clunking foot (in mouth) at work, yet again... ;D
-
Just took my best shot..................................now I will have to be content watching it soar into the stratosphere.
-
$4905 and counting! I bet it tops $6500.
-
Holy Cow, it went for over $10k!
-
That's just crazy.
-
What's crazier is it'll probably end up on Gbase in three weeks listed at 13.5...
-
Wow! And I was thinking of jumping in if it stayed below $3 k!!! :o
-
It's not the first comparable Bird that has gone at this price. I'm not all that surprised. Two years ago, it might have hit 15 k given color and condition.
-
This is not a knock on vintage NR Thunderbirds. I love them and always will. But... I look at that admittedly beautiful bass and I say to myself, "Self, is that bass worth $9500 more than a new Bach Bird to you?" And my self is answering, "No." Even with unlimited funds if I bought that bass I'd be afraid to play it outside the house. If I ding up or even destroy a Bach, I can just get another one (for now, anyway). Even if, compared to the real thing, it's only 90% there (and that's a low estimate in my book), the Bach is still, dollar for dollar, the winner here.
-
The Gibson IS bass history........ I'd feel the same about playing it out, probably never!
For those of us that have them, a BaCH is bass history too, and I can play it out ;D
-
I knew the second that classy red head walked in the room she was out of my leauge...............................but I had to try anyhow. $4,858.00 was my high bid, all I did was drive it up a bit for the buyer and make it a little more dear ;D Those with money still have it and when something exceptional pops up they will still open their wallets. I think I'll treat myself to a Bach ;) Mark btw I got your little package today ;)
-

Yeah! Love bringin out the BaCH. Very cool bass.
-
Cool!
Did I mention you can place your order now? 8)
I've got the PayPal account up and running.

SWEET! Email sent...
That is correct Denis :)
-
If I had the malvax (money) I would go for one. Right now, baby! Just spent a few minutes with my blue one. It's so good! But I can't. Right now... Great bass, anyways!
-
Can you still get a Bach? Is it worth it?
-
Yes you can, and yes it is.

Undoutably one the best basses you can buy for the $$$, I love mine!
