Hey nice semi hollow. Is there anything you can't do?
Contrary to what James Bond says, a good Gibson should be stirred, not shaken.

I cheated this time. ;-)

Bought the body off AliExpress.
Actually bought the Guyker bridge there first. And those bastards keep sending you emails with suggestions like: "this would go well with the bridge you bought a while ago".
I normally just dismiss those emails as unwanted spam. But the body tickled my curiosity. Because it had no routings or holes drilled into it.
So I bought it. I had no real plan for it. But eventually came up with the PB-2 idea.

That is a gorgeous bass! Not a million miles away from the things Peter Hook plays, but the pickup looks to be in a better place on this.

Does it sound mostly like a P Bass or does the semi hollow element soften up the attack and add other aspects to the tone?

Basvarken

Yeah the semi-acoustic body certainly does something with the sound.
It sounds less like an amplified log (like a P-bass does to my ears ;-) )

Looks and sounds beautiful as always from Brooks!

Do my eyes deceive me or is the pickup slightly closer to the bridge than on a P bass?
Basses: Gibson lpb-1, Gibson dc jr tribute, Greco thunderbird, Danelectro dc, Ibanez blazer.  Amps: genz benz shuttle 6.0, EA CXL110, EA CXL112, Spark 40.  Guitars: Danelectro 59XT, rebuilt cheap LP copy

Basvarken

The distance from inside nut to center of the split pickup is 75.5 cm.

So yes, on a P-bass it would be 72.4 cm

I have an idea for years, but I first have to win the lottery. One of my dream basses is a one pickup Tbird, like you made for mr. Laut. Well, a reversed one then. I'm also a big fan of semisolids, of the JCS, and the Tbird.

A while ago I visited a guitar shop which had some Trini Lopez sigs and a Dave Grohl sig. This sunday I saw Noel Gallagher and Gem Archer playing Trini Lopez sigs and I love that Firebird headstock on a 335-ish guitar. Not sure about the diamond sound holes though.

But the lottery bass is a Brooks semisolid, with an EB2 style body, two piece bridge, Tbird headstock and I guess one Tbird pickup at the middle position. Maybe an idea for a mock up to see what it looks like.

Basvarken

Cool idea Chris.
Doesn't even have to be that expensive.
About the same as the PB-2, I'd say.

The EB-650 had the diamond sound holes like the Trini.
