I bought this off ebay. Back in my formative years stripped natural 60's P basses were all over the place. I am going to do a Randy Jo Hobbs/Greg Ridley build with this. Hope it's the real deal, looked right to me.
-
Wasn't Randy's darker, or am I remembering wrong?
-
Not sure, I haven't researched a lot, going from memory. Not sure if I am going to tribute a specific bass or do a amalgam of basses. Maybe it isn't Hobbs I am thinking of, one of the guys with Johnny Winter used a stripped natural 60's P.
-
It may have been Hobbs, IIRC it was stripped but stained dark. Ikey Sweat also played a P with Johnny.
-
Well in for a penny, in for a pound. I bought the original neck to the bass, I'll post pics when it comes in.
-
Interested to see what you make of it!
-
Ugh in for a penny in for a pound, I bought the neck!

Well, at least the headstock end looks good.
-
Same seller...?
-
Yep, neck goes with the body!
-
Sorry for the lousy pictures at this point I can only upload pictures from my phone and the files are to big. So I am thinking of doing a JAE Isle of Wight bass. The body and neck are both 1969. The neck is rosewood with mop inlays and the large TV logo. The body was originally sunburst so I am thinking of having it shot sunburst then black like John's. Oh what a hole I'm digging.

You're fixing a hole...
Wait, wrong band.

I am pretty excited about it, we travel quite a bit but it pays well enough so that I don't need a day job. The 69 is a great match for the gig as John played a stripped natural 60's Precision before he got his Alembic. I love the Schaller pickup! Lots of power, great full tone and lacks the grunt the Dimarzio Model P has. Someone here gave it to me, I can't remember who but thanks!

Great pic!

Like decent Fleetwood Mac, or soccer mom Fleetwood Mac?
-
Doesn't matter, I am being paid good money to play and people love it. For the last four years I was cleaning toilets at night so my family had health care. It literally almost killed me. I am happy to play just about anything, who am I to judge someone's music taste?

That's being an entertainer.

And besides, McVie is a terrific bass player. The one time I've seen Fleetwood Mac I was almost shocked at how McVie and Fleetwood went together. Never a missed step, always perfect. I've never in my life seen a bassist and a drummer play so well together as those two did.

Just back from Columbus Ohio! This gig is a blast and I am having more fun than I can remember. Our drummer Ryan is great and we work very well together. I have been studying MacVie's playing and there is a lot more there than at first blush, it's been a real eye opener! https://www.facebook.com/RumourzBandNF/videos/1790788424288746/ https://www.facebook.com/susanjenet.dloughy/videos/1815680075162491/
