White Hobbit on the 'bay
« on: February 07, 2010, 06:57:39 AM »
Hey guys, I'd like to ask a favor of our brethren here.

This auction is based out of my backyard, about an hour away:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Gibson-Les-Paul-Triumph-Bass_W0QQitemZ260549383618QQcmdZViewItemQQptZGuitar?hash=item3ca9f415c2

I'm trying to deal with them locally, but the owner is wanting 2500.00 for it or he wants to gamble on eBay. If no one is extremely passionate about owning a White Hobbit, I would like to ask that no one here try for it. I know the white ones were a lot more rare, but lately I haven't seen the Hobbits go for big amounts, seems they've slown down a bit.

Thanks guys.
-Dave

Go for it! In that condition I'd be very surprised if it doesn't go for quiet a bit more than the opening bid amount, but you never know with this economy...

Good luck, I don't think it will go for near 2500.

Nice one - hope you snag it.

My brown 73 is near mint (case queen most of its life), and I gave around 1600 for it not too long ago.... and I'm sure I could have found a nice player for less with time and patience.  I don't know if the white ones really fetch a premium - probably just depends on who's looking for one at the time.

Nice & good luck  :toast: When I go for a white hobbit, I'll be stuck buying the matching LPR. Won't be this year! Just missed one locally for about $1,400 about a year & half ago. Hopefully, you pick this on up for closer to that!  8)
