These are actually hollowbodies. Not sure about the body wood. All the ones I've seen are fretless.

I've found the Matsumoku instruments to be well assembled with good woodwork and finish. I really like my early 70's "Coily" (335-copy) Univox hollowbody.
There are a couple of those on Reverb, although I think the prices are high on both.

Don't see too many shortscale fretless basses. Those fretboard dots could be a bit more discreet. I prefer fretted electric basses and so does George Porter Jr. Came across this pic of him with an EB that the drummer Ziggy Modeliste shared. Figured this was as good a place as any to post it. Wonder if this thing got tracked on any Meters songs?

I had an Aria version of this (with frets), it was a great bass.
