Yep, for the first time in 15+ years there's one back in the air... the last one to fly was lost at an airshow in '96

engine start at 1:55 on this one

This one last flew in 1945 and had clocked up 3 hours of flying time when this was filmed yeaterday... this one is scheduled to go to the USA...

The Bass Zone / What is a "modern" bass sound...? Discuss...
« on: June 25, 2012, 04:37:12 PM »
Dave Chris once said that if you can't do it with a P... (not a direct quote and edited to credit accordingly)

Now, I'll happily defer descriptions of instrument "tones" to Uwe as he describes "tone" like a master vineyard taster describes a fine wine, but some things recently discussed make me raise this question...

What is a modern bass sound...? Who has the "definitive" modern sound...? What are the "definitive" instrument and/or amplification...? Does it really matter...?

Please, do offer examples...

Now, the newest instrument I own is a butchered black Squier Jazz that I slapped a fretless neck onto and the newest amp is a used MAG but the PC has a Mudbucker and I play her (mostly) through a 42 year old Hiwatt, so I can not really comment here...

Most importantly, does Gibson provide something that would fit the bill...? I'm going to suspect that Uwe, possibly others, will note the TB+ pups

60 years and still going strong...

We have a four day weekend (or at least most of us do) over here so I'm spending it shifting a ton of concrete and re-doing a ski-slope we called the path in the front garden (and taking several pain-killers to keep me going...!).

PS wishing her well but we're not Monarchists here...

I don't know what it's like over your side of the pond but you could probably spend the whole day watching "specials" over here...

Wife and daughter have issued me with the "Avatar/Inception" Yellow Card (official warning) so I'm being ousted to go see the 3D version this evening so they can watch something slightly less Titanic-ee...

RIP

There is so much to bring us all down at the moment...

It would be nice to post things that have inspired us, regardless of what it is, no matter how minor; something for others to dip into when they are feeling down... maybe it is just a photo, or maybe a new child or grand-child, coming out of a dark period, something that inspired you to take that leap-of-faith...

Whatever it is, let us know...

I have things to post but I thought I'd just set the ball rolling and see what happens...

Happy Halloween people...

Hopefully the weather over east is not being too harsh and ruining the festivities...

The busiest our door has ever been this evening... loads of kids tricortreating...
