Several sellers are unloading some Les Paul Low Impedance pickups on Ebay, this one is for a bass.

They seem to be coming up less often.

Gibson Basses / 1964 EB-0F Getting Refinished............. Finally!
« on: July 27, 2013, 04:02:47 PM »
I bought this bass in 1996, with the intention of getting it refinished back to it's original color. I was still in my collecting mode, so getting this done was low on my priority list. My wife & I were going to take a short trip to La Crosse Wisconsin, so I had to stop at Dave's Guitar Shop. I brought it along, showed it to him & he agreed to restore it. I'm sure he and his employees will do a great job. It should be done in 4 to 6 weeks.

Gibson Basses / Where have all of the 20/20's gone??
« on: July 13, 2013, 05:43:34 AM »
It's been almost two years since the JMJ 20/20 sold on Ebay, I haven't seen one since. One popped up & sold on Gbase when I wasn't looking, but that's about it.

They never popped up with much frequency before, but it's like they disappeared! Where have all the Fugly basses gone??

This came in the mail today....................

This rounds out my low impedance collection. The first Hobbit I bought around 1991 for $300.00 has cost me a small fortune!

The Outpost Cafe / The Wrecking Crew.................
« on: January 16, 2013, 03:46:06 PM »
After hearing a friend of mine brag this book up, my wife bought it for me as a Christmas gift. I'm not much of a book reader, but after I finally got started on it, I read it in two nights. Much of the time frame the book was written about, was a bit before my time, but I grew up listening to all of the songs the book mentioned. I was unaware of how many recordings were produced that didn't have any of the band members actually playing their own hit records. Check it out!

I know I said I wouldn't buy anymore, but I couldn't help myself.......... This might be the most normal bass I ever bought!

It feels like half the weight of the Les Paul Oversized Bass.

Gibson Basses / Anybody need a Moog board for a RD Artist Bass?
« on: July 07, 2012, 07:29:55 AM »
This only has one day left, but it seems to me that somebody was looking for one a while back. The price is still reasonable...........

Gibson Basses / Les Paul Recording Control Plates
« on: June 22, 2012, 12:23:20 PM »
I came across this company that is producing a good aftermarket contol plate for a Les Paul Recording. If there was enough interest here, we could contact them about making them for the "Hobbit".

Gibson Basses / 20/20 Anyone?............
« on: January 16, 2012, 04:40:53 PM »
This popped up in Canada.......... I only saw two of them last year, the red one I bought & the JMJ bass. This guy changed the pickups, but maybe he still has them. The circuit is in the pickups & only has a 9volt battery in series with them. We only have four of these on this board, new members welcome!!

Gibson Basses / New Les Paul Standard Bass on it's way!
« on: December 20, 2011, 06:00:26 PM »
I just pulled the trigger on a new Limited Edition Les Paul Standard bass, Goldtop. Only a few places still had them in stock in gold & I wanted one with a rosewood fingerboard. Guitar Center & Musicians Friend had them discontinued already. American Music Supply & ZZSounds.com had the only goldtops I ran into in the US, so I bought one from American Music Supply. Seems to be more Goldtops in Europe. It will be the Big Brother to my 1969 Les Paul Deluxe Goldtop. That will have to relieve my GAS for a long time. It is the first new Gibson I have ever bought!

Gibson Basses / Les Paul's Son
« on: December 16, 2011, 09:48:48 AM »
Some of you may have already run into this, but it was new to me. I was corresponding with a guy on the Gibson site about Les Paul Recording guitars & my LP-12 amp, I said that I regretted not making it to see Les in person before he passed away, he said that he had the oportunity to see him at the Irridium & mentioned that his son Rusty was one heck of a bass player. I responded, Does he play a Les Paul Triumph bass? He posted this photo............ You don't see one of these everyday!

Gibson Basses / 1969 EB-1 Reissue.... Real of Fake??
« on: November 26, 2011, 06:06:59 PM »
I notice this on eBay, The tuners seem wrong or changed, the bridge has been changed, the pinstripping is missing, has it been refinished? Is it a total fake? The neck & headstock seem to be as they should, the neck joint even seems correct. I have bad vibes........... any opinions? $5,000.00?
