These are guys who for a fee purport to act as the middle man for Japanese Yahoo auction sellers and guitar shops that don't speak English or won't ship overseas.  Anyone here had any experience with them?

Gibson Basses / SG reissue - anybody here fitted a thumbrest?
« on: September 25, 2009, 08:24:57 PM »
Not having played EB-3s much previously (my old EB-4L pup was in just the right place), I'm struggling to find an anchor point on my SG RI in the sweet spot between the pickups, so am considering a thumbrest.  Anyone else gone down this road?

Gibson Basses / baby blue SG RI at Ishibashi

Including shipping, works out at just over US$700 - and includes Gibson hard case.

Stock number is 326302701.  You can search for it here ... http://www.ishibashi.co.jp/u_box/e/

If I hadn't just bought a faded cherry SG RI I'd hit this one.

Thought I'd post some photos from my gig on the weekend.  This is the showband I play in that performs a tribute to Grease and seventies disco tunes.  Lots of fun, there are 11 of us on stage - 4 singers, 4 dancers, plus 3 old perverts.  The club is what we call an "RSL" (Returned Services League) club downunder - originally these clubs were designed to provide cheap drinks, food and entertainment for ex-servicemen/women, but now they're big glitzy casino-style clubs with slot machines, cheesy tribute shows and Thai restaurants.  The beer is still cheap though.

This is my first short scale in around 6 years, and my first Gibby since I sold the ex-Dude Ripper last year.  It's also the first brand new Gibson I've ever owned.  I bought it for a new Rolling Stones tribute show I'm in, and just like every other bass I own, it will be wearing flats.

I have a short scale set of TI Flats on the way from Tom's string shop (the extra BABP forum member discount makes him the cheapest bass string online retailer on the planet), and I really like TI Flats on my Fender-type basses, but not having used the TIs on a short scale bass before I'm wondering how they will suit the SG reissue?

What flats are other people wearing on their SG reissues?

Gibson Basses / Looks like I'm back in the club

I just pulled the trigger on a "faded" SG Reissue that was on sale at a price too good to ignore, so not only am I back in the Gibson fold, I'm venturing into short scale land again for the first time in several years.

It's not a Framus or a Vox, but it won't look out of place in the Stone tribute show I've just joined.  Next step is to style my black wig so it has a long fringe.  I'm fairly confident this forum is the best place to get advice on that as well

Gibson Basses / Heads up - black Orville by Gibson 'bird at Ishibashi
« on: September 07, 2009, 05:21:56 PM »
Go to http://www.ishibashi.co.jp/u_box/e/ and search for "Orville"

Price with shipping works out to be around US$1000.  I've not seen many ebony Orville birds, most are 'burst.

Gibson Basses / For sale/wanted section?
« on: August 31, 2009, 09:59:53 PM »
Hi guys, long time no see.  I drop in occasionally and do a little lurking, hard to keep up with all the forums these days with two kids under 4.

I notice there isn't a classifieds section at this forum.  Given that, where's the best place for me to loiter and find Gibson basses for sale?  I'm hankering for a ebony or sunburst Ripper, or a long scale EB (EB0-L, EB3-L, EB4-L) for a new project I'm involved in.  Or even a Greco EB-720 :-)
