Question: Thunderbird Pickguard Material Thickness?
« on: May 23, 2012, 06:34:12 AM »

Hello Group...

I finally got around to making a CAD model from the photo copy of the Epiphone Elitist Thunderbird pickguard that "UWE" sent me several years ago.
THANKS AGAIN "UWE"!

I see that the Epiphone Elitist Thunderbird pickguards are single ply all white, but what material thickness is it?

Also, if I decided to go with a more retro look what ply and material is used on the vintage 60's model Thunderbirds?

Thanks again for your input... I'll post pictures when I'm finished.

Nice... thanks!

Do you know where I can score a "Bird" logo for the pickguard?
thought I saw that someone was selling them from here a while ago.

Thanks again!

Well that would be me. I have reverse and nonreverse guards with logos done in the original manner as Gibson.

Unfortunately it's single ply Scott, not 3 ply.

Hey, Scott, on a slightly related note, if I sent you a mirrored pickguard would you be able to put the Tbird logo on it? Or can you make a mirrored one yourself? I'm thinking of doing a custom project in the near future and this would be icing on the cake.

Sorry I can't. A friend of mine runs these off for me  and it looks like it will be a while before I run more. Also without scrap material it is almost impossible to get a good imprint on the first try. Temp and pressure vary from material to material.

Alright, it was worth a shot. I'll probably just go with a waterslide decal or something.
