They both look great in gold. You gave me GAS for an Oversize LP, how much do they typically weigh?

I really wanted a black one pretty bad, but they just don't come around much. Gold is a hot color right now (especially in Lighting), but not the overly polished gawdy stuff from the '80s. I'm a big gurl so the Oversize LP might actually look right on me - We have a big show on the 26th it'll come along and get some stage time.

You'll have to change your accessorizing theme to compliment gold.

True. And the Nästy Höbbitses will need to open their musical vision to new - glimmering - influences. I see an inspiration for updated stage outfits with a vintage vibe too.

So the LP has arrived, the neck has a bit of a bow to it so it's going to Mike Lull's for a set up. I put a set of Ken Smith RockMasters on it - WoW! This bass has a deep growly snarl when played with a pick, takes no prisoners!  The first thing about playing it standing up is to lengthen the strap and spread your legs a bit, this bass says that. IF'ing love it, and will find some complimentary clothing to accompany it and the Q80  :-*

Do I detect some truss rod (self-)adjustment angst?  8)

Indeed you do, good Sir. I don't mind publicly admitting that set up is not my strongest point, this became much clearer to me after taking one of my Birds in for work way back in our early Dudepit days. The bass that came back played so much better that eventually all my basses went through his shop for a similar treatment.
The LP has a strange bridge on it (as in not a 3 point) and in addition to fixing the bow the action could drop a bit as well. Lastly, one of the plastic pickup bezels in broken so I'll have that replaced as well, appears to be a standard Gibson part.

Gibson only used that bridge twice to my knowledge, then back to the three point...…

P.S.... The ES Les Paul bass was available in gold also...

Those chrome, humbucker-sized TB+ pups are monsters. I have a pair on my Fenderbird and they're lowered as much as possible because they're so loud. I'm a big fan.

I think that bridge/tailpiece is on the LP BFG as well.

Yes, and it intonates just so-so, because it doesn't have the necessary range. It's positioned a little sharp (which is better than a little flat, but still in this day and age ...).

And this is unusual for Gibson how?  ;)
