Just typing 'Gretsch Billy Bo Jupiter Thunderbird Bass' is great.
I saw it in Germany. It looked great, it's shortscale, it has TV Jones pick ups and I love it. Has anybody played it amplified?
3000 dollar is a bit too much for me at the moment, unfortunately. Or I have to sell the 4005...

I had only heard the name. Now I've seen this (http://www.elderly.com/new_instruments/items/G6199B.htm).
Wow. That's so....ermmm....unattractive to me.
And some people make fun of the MM Bongo!
Please, keep the 4005.

I always forget about it when I'm thinking of Gretsch Basses. I've only seen them online, never actually played one. Though I think they have a cool unusual shape. Like a Thunderbird but not. But then again I do like the 4005 also.

I would like to play one. If I'm spending that much cash I like to know what I'm getting into.

My thoughts exactly. You could probably do a project bass with those pickups a lot cheaper.

It's 3000 euros and Japanese. But making a replica could be expensive too (though I thought about one with a Jazz neck). It has a semisolid body, it's nicely bound, a control IN the pickguard, et cetera.

I think they are WAY overpriced, just buy a Guild Jetstar / Gumby bass?
