Post by: drbassman on February 22, 2014, 03:08:32 PM
Hey Scott, what size round over did Gibson use on the NRs?

It varies................. 3/8" is the closest I could find and the most common. One NR II I have it's like a 1/4".

Yeah, I have a 1/8" and 1/4".  I tried them on a scrap and the 1/8" is too small for my liking and the 1/4" is a bit larger than I'd like.  I just found a 3/16" bit on sale and ordered that for a try.  I'm not necessarily tying to replicate the NR, but I know what I like and the two bits I have aren't doing it for me.

I'll check my bits the sizes I gave might be wrong.

Bill I have used 3/8" and 1/8". Most NRs are more like a 3/8" but the bass I have had since '77 is very close to a 1/8" hardly any round over at all.

OK, that helps.  When I tried the 1/8", you could hardly see it!  I think 3/16" might be just what I'm looking for.  Thanks!

Forgive my ignorance, but what is "round over"?

The radius on the body edge.
