New Limited Edition Guild Starfire

Guild Chris Hillman Signature Byrds Bass

Only the first part of the video is about the bass, but I watched it all the way through, and toward the end the Guild rep says they have built a brand new US factory from the ground up. Although I doubt the Hillman bass is made there, it's encouraging to see them go forward with a US factory.

Nice video.
That 12 string acoustic sounds great.

There is a magic to 12-string guitars.

I see they have got the retail at $1,530. for the Hillman ((single pup) and $1,580. For the Newark St. (2 pup).  The Newark St when first released what, several years ago were made in n Korea and retailed for around $1,100.  Does Fender still own Guild?

Fender sold Guild to Cordoba Music group last year.

All current Guild basses are in the Newark Street series, including the new Hillman.

The list prices are $1520 for the original single pickup Starfire, $1640 for the new two-pickup model and $1950 for the Hillman. Since the single pickup model still has a street price of $1099, I expect the two-pickup model will street for $1199.

Since the Hillman model is so limited, I doubt anyone will be motivated to discount it much if at all.

But who would want to buy the Hillman model, cetainly not Byrds fans ? Byrds scholars around the globe have always maintained to me he only used a Starfire once, play-backing on a TV show .........

Maybe Chris says otherwise. The bass wouldn't have been issued without his approval.

That's a  possibility of course ..... and maybe it's the bass he'd always like to have but never had.

I don't understand. There's countless pics of him with a Guild, playing live.
And if it were available lefty(it's not, I've already inquired) I would buy one straight away.

Whoever shoots these needs to learn that there's such a thing as a microphone, and it should be near the speaker's mouth.  I can't understand 90% of what he says.  Without the artfy-fartsy bass sound overlay (which adds nothing) it would be improved, but the sound still sucks.   >:(
