We (The Smokin' Crocs) have a song that includes Volvo's and Subaru's and just about every other major car company. Its called the Door Handle Blues. Its about the 80's Aussie Ford Falcons and how their door handle used to always break.

Thanks Dave  :)

Mark, I've been dealing with Coles a lot lately as we have finally managed to get them to stock our product. The marketing dept are saying that the Down Down campaign has been the most successful marketing strategy they have ever run.

Sounds like a lot of hard to deal with stuff going on at the moment. For a change things at here are going pretty well, even if waaaay to busy and not enough sleep. Best wishes to you Scott and Ken.

CCR's Run through the Jungle is just 3 notes over and over for almost 6 mins in our version. I love playing it. Just work that groove, work that groove. Impossible though, unless you have a drummer that "gets it".

Thanks for the input guys. I've been lucky before buying 2nd hand ones from ebay for cheaper basses but this time I think I might just spend the extra scheckles and get my luthier to do it.

+2 or 3 on the Doors bass lines. Not tricky as such but definitely well written. Certainly require respect if you are going to play them properly. My favorites to are probably LA Woman and Love me 2 times.

The Bass Zone / Pickguards: Who do you recomend?
« on: September 29, 2012, 01:19:42 AM »
I need to get a couple of pickguards made for different basses. One will be a custom shape, the others are a Jazz and a P bass shape.
Let me know who you have had the best results from.
thx.

"Baked maple" reminds me of potato chips. :)

Makes me think of old radios. Bakalite.

I guess if you "bake" it then it will be perceived as different to what Fender use maybe?

They were using baked maple and granadillo on some models. Now they're using laminated rosewood on some models. May take a while to get things sorted out.

I don't know. Baking it may give it a little more surface hardness which may affect tone, but it still won't be as hard as a rosewood.

Which is why maple boards usually have a paint finish on them.

Laminated rosewood? OMG  :o Plywood fingerboards no less! LOL ;D

Ahhhh! the penny dropped as I was getting into bed last night. Gibson are using Baked maple for fingerboards because they dont have enough Rosewood due to the lawsuit. Strange days....... ???

Damn, Mark!!  Those are fantastic cuts! You get a fantastic sound out of that T-bird, and the whole band sounds great.
