The Outpost Cafe / Re: Photobucket Alert
« on: July 01, 2017, 12:29:45 PM »
Photobucket has been a hot mess for a while.  The constant barrage of spam/ads renders it borderline unusable, and I can't see how that would entice anyone to ante up for a paid service.  I suspect they will fade into oblivion with this move, or get bought out for the name and resurrected by someone else.

I switched over to imgur.com, which seems to work well.  Google Photos might be a good alternative too, although I haven't tried it yet (I do like Goolge Drive for cloud storage).

If only he had funded a marketing campaign with a sample group of millennial consumers who get asked to describe the Fireturd X using emojis...  ;D

Has anybody, either here or anywhere, heard any cute young lady walk by a new Buick & say; "SWEET BUICK"?

Possibly only when she's behind one with its blinker on, going 15 under the speed limit in the fast lane  :bored:  ;D

Wonder what he's up to regarding the custom shop?  Been seeing mention of a bunch of layoffs there.

I used to do custom auto upholstery in a distant and somewhat misguided former life. Usually the dive upholstery supply shops ("trim shops") would have some of the most bizarre and entertaining stuff, and I do recall a lot of interesting fur ;D :o  (was doing mostly lowrider type jobs - so crushed velvet and fur were standard protocol)

Might not hurt to peruse any auto-centric local establishments, should they exist.

(ETA: Ken would'a fit right into that scene!)

Cool find (both the guitar and article!).  Wouldn't have made that connection to Renaissance visually...

17 guitars and basses... amps?  Maybe share a FS list here as you get things sorted 8)

Dave, have you ever played any of the Knut-Koupee guitars/basses?

Just noticed this one on Music Go Round:

I didn't keep all of my guitar mags, but I do still have a box full of manufacturer brochures.  Dug some out a few years ago and took a photo... Fun to look back at 'em.

I still use a piece of Heathkit gear ;D  These "electronic design experimenters" are great for a self contained effects/signal processing testbed.  This one has built in variable bi-polar DC and an AC power supply, function generator, and a couple of pots.

I added four 1/4 jacks to the back, each wired to the outer edges of the breadboard.  This way I can carry it around to the amps and try out new designs.  Pretty handy little setup!
