I've posted this a hundred times before, but I thought I'd refresh for folks who may not have seen it.

I hadn't seen this - way cool.

I got to see him once in Kansas City in the early 80's. I remember the totally rippin' blues tunes!

Hey, I even liked Cactus and Beck, Bogert & Appice!

Wow. I haven't heard mention of "Cactus" in decades. I got to see them live at an festival here in Missouri back in '74. I enjoyed their show!

How could you have missed that one, Uwe... a rock solid classic... I followed RM from Edgar Winter ("They Only Come Out At Night" - that in itself a stunning debut [many of us know "Frankenstein" but how many knew it was Montrose on the guitar], if you ignore some mandolin on a Van the Man LP) and onwards... I don't have everything he's released, but I have a fair chunk of it...

I remember seeing Gamma at The Hammy O and Mr Montrose played this jazzy stand-alone solo which left many of us just stunned, silent, and he called out, "Well, what do ya think...?" and we all just erupted...

Ronnie and Sammy...? Two (egos) into one don't go...  ;D

Cool, I never knew RM played on that. I always liked "We All Had a Real Good Time". What a hoot!

On the Heep subject, I was lucky enough to see them for free in Central Park in '75. Schaeffer Beer used to sponsor concerts there. You didn't have to buy a ticket to see and hear. All you had to do was park yourself on one of the huge rocks a little uphill outside of the fenced area and dig it. Another good show I saw this way was Poco... 8)

Glad you figured it out on your own. Any dimmer will literally radiate 60cycle hum quite effectively!

I don't think I viewed the others, but I never missed "Fireball XL-5" on Saturday mornings.

Neil Young does this with his guitars too (I think he has a defeat switch).  The added resistance of the control pots 'load' the pickups and change the freq response a bit.  Pretty common mod.

The Les Paul Jumbo + White Falcon lovechild archtop acoustic project I am working on will not have any controls The instrument will be wired straight to jack but I will be making a floor box  with the usual Lo Z LP controls (decade switch, passive bass and treble controls and Hi/Lo Z transformer... no volume).  The tone controls will be footswitch bypassable, and the tranny will have it's own switch.

It's gonna be whiter than that (sides and back of neck will be solid black) with gold hardware to match the pups (I got the gold L5-S version vs the regular black/chrome ring version).

Okay, you got me. What is a 'decade switch'?

I couldn't afford a Dingwall, but I did put together a fanfret, and that's my other keeper from the Embassy.  I get a lot of comments on the sound.

Nice colors on that Super J/P.

Thanks! Sheldon calls this color "Bronze Age". In person, it's like a deeper, bolder Shoreline Gold. I've been focusing on playing fan-fret only lately, but I still have a couple of mono-scaled basses that my fingers just won't let go of yet.  ;)

My 'transplant patients' were purchased with modification to wear specific pickups in mind:

The one on the left is still in the nest, but the Jag moved south to live with Carlo... 8)

The visuals on that bass are fantastic!

Thanks! The Baltic Amber (pick guard) crystals blend nicely with the neck and body colors. ;) I need to take a better picture of it with the matching headstock thrown in...

I actually pondered selling this one to fund a five-string version but I couldn't do it. For me, it is the most perfect instrument yet that I have been blessed to own. I can't say never because of my inability to predict the future and never is a very long time. My "Bronze Age" 2007 Dingwall Super J/P:
