Absolutely - they have some very cool models in the range now. They make a tiny little passive overdrive, a 3 channel passive boost/overdrive/tube emulator, and have just released a passive compressor.
Here's a clip of the 66 Thunderbuckers in my JAEbird - this is a VERY ROUGH incomplete mix of an upcoming song we're working on - the bass sounds great though. JAEbird > Cave Passive Pedals TVTR clean boost > Markbass TTE500 > DI out > Protools. Both pickups on full, tone control on around 1/4 turn. TTE500 EQ flat. No compression or post production at all.http://soundcloud.com/mdeayton/ht-rough-mix
Nice sound! Still using Chromes?
Flatwounds never die!
Hard to die when they're dead to begin with.
I'm not going to hijack Carlo's thread except to say (again) that flatwounds aren't exempt from the laws of physics.
