EB0 Junior?

I was reading an article about Gibson SG-shaped LP Junior guitars and I was also thinking of Drbassman and his great LP with Junior pickguard.

And I got this idea:

My painted black paper pickguard is very bad, but it's just to get the idea. I could make a Jr. bass out of my EB0.
I'm thinking of a Warwick bridge. Would that fit on a EB0 with its narrow string spacing Uwe? You used one...

As a pick up I could use a T-bird humbucker or a Duesenberg pick up. I tried both. I'm also thinking about one control on the pickguard or two on the body. I tried it out for the pics.
Colour. Still competition stripes or maybe just cherry or white?

You opinions please, gentlemen!

Someone please tell Chris that the bridge has to go the other way around (unless he is working at a new string through body concept!).

 

The Warwick bridge is adjustable in string width, it'll work and you can actually place it pretty much where the original two point was with the stringholder then about 2 cms from the butt of the body.

I'd use the TBird pup, but put it farther forward for some ooomph.

After I made the pics, loaded them on my computer, on PhotoBucket and the here I discovered the bridge error....

Thanks Uwe. I think I'll order a Warwick bridge; they aren't that expensive.

About the pick up position: I already have the EB3 and the SG reissue, so a middle pick up seems to be a nice idea. You're right: It has to be more in the middle.
Unfortunately the T-bird pick is batter looker, but only the cover. Maybe I can fit something inside it.

The pickguard covers the mudbucker hole, BTW.

I like the look but put a mudbucker (1st choice) or Dark Star in it.

The whole Tbird/EB thing I do not find appealing. The LP sized pup looks better to me.

It's like putting Mercedes AMG wheels on a Honda to me.

I have a Darkstar (Fender spacing), an Epi mudbucker and even a Fender-tele-mudbucker. But I think those two are too big for the Junior look.  I think the LP-sized Duesenberg and the TB are better. I also have an black plastic Epi T-bird pup.

Other suggestions?

Maybe I keep it this colour, with a black guard.

Actually a black TB soapbar might look best, most Jr. like.

I kinda like that idea. I'll try to find a dog ear with no visible polepieces!

If the vibe is the melody maker you have to go the black dog ear look. Uwe right now is jumping up & down in glee, rocking his building, just by suggesting black plastic!

Use an exposed pole black pup and make a flat ring in a dog eared shape surround. If you look the pickup is bumped out on the Dog ear anyway.

Right away Dimarzio pickups come to mind in black - The Model G is a great pup and came in black- The model one could do as well.


Do they make black toaster pups?

got an idea for a pup. i had this one pictured and sent it to stan at HAS Sound. it got lost in the mail but i was thinking of having him wind it with big wire kinda like a Charlie Christian pup and use a really good magnet. it got lost in the mail and i never pursued it any further. i think it would look really good on that project.

betcha curt novak would do ya one right also!!!

they are cheap off the bay but are easily disassembled and could be made into a nice P-90 type bass pup.
