Unknown Gibson bass case
« on: November 10, 2018, 02:57:39 PM »

Can anyone ID this case? Just picked it up for $30, neither I nor the seller have much of a clue to what model it originally came with. I figure maybe a Victory or a Bass IV?  It's about 13” x 47” on the inside.

Late 70s to 80s.  Could be any number of models including RD, Victory, Q series, maybe even the big girls (Ripper, Grabber, G3) - can't tell for sure without measurements

I second what Jake said. It looks like the case my Victory had, but I don't know if the other late 70's early 80's models used different cases. I don't have the original case for the RD Artist.

Gibson Victory Bass Standard Candy Apple Red https://reverb.com/item/14067212-gibson-victory-bass-standard-candy-apple-red?_aid=pla&utm_source=android-app&utm_medium=share

Found this one, same exact case. Gotta be for the Victory.  I guess it could fit some other model also.

I thought it might have been an RD Bass case, that is until I pulled it out for a look...………….

It looks a bit closer to the guitar.

Definitely NOT a Gabber case.

It's similar but not quite a 1978 RD case...

So Frankie, what's the scoop on the case - I could use one for my Victory?  It's in a generic one now with not quite enough room for the headstock.

I stuck an Embassy in it but I really don't need this case.  It won't be cheap to ship, but shoot me an offer if you're interested.

I have one of these also. Got it at Manny's when I bought a Yamaha bass back in the 90s. It has a MIJ Squier P-Bass in it now. I've been debating as to whether I should buy a Victory for it.

Well ethically you probably should.
