I'd advise anyone to get the Seymour Duncan ones they did for the Ripper II model instead.

Technically, I agree with you, but...those SDs are expensive and I'm waiting to see if Mitch comes through with reimbursing me for the loss of the Jerry Jones...

Are the SD ones noticeably different from the originals? That is, would it be worth replacing a working set of originals to achieve some tonal objective, or is it just a dead/missing pickup replacement strategy?

They are supposedly great sounding pups and much more powerful than the original pups. Funny though, the SDs are replacements for the early 2-screw Ripper pickups, not the later 3-screw designs.

There are two, original early pups on eBay for BIN $279 each. This is too much to justify if the SDs are only a few dollars more.

The SDs sound like some dusty veil has been pulled off the old ones. More focus, but still balanced, bit single coilish in nature and therefore not very middish.

That was you that got the two for $150? That's a much more sensible price.

Aren't the SDs $160 each?

The SDs are guaranteed to work.  If one of those is bad it will take $100 to have it rewound.

Yes, I got the whole mess for $150. You're question confirms I was mistaken. The SDs are $160 each. Not sure what I was thinking about but that makes that other guy's asking price of $279 each is lunacy. With these two, I actually will have 4 early Ripper pups...
