Title: RIP Connie Hamzy
Post by: 4stringer77 on September 24, 2021, 06:45:04 AM
A belated sentiment but I just heard, the Grand Funk immortalized Connie is no longer with us. If there's a Saint Peter at the pearly gates, Connie will know what to do. God bless her and RIP.

 :rimshot:

I'm sure she knew a lot about pearl necklaces too.

Oral sex with 600 different people? Gulp, actively or passively, I can't (nearly) compete with that. That's hard to swallow & a real licking for me.

Thanks for ruining my day and making me feel small and irrelevant.

PS: ZZ Top and their overt use of backing tapes ...   Here's a youtube comment that hits the nail on the head:

"Right around 2:43 you can see the bass start up when Dusty isn't even hitting the strings. I don't mind at all that he's actually playing along to backing tracks because it creates a fuller richer sound, but they seriously have to hide this better."

I saw them live a couple of years ago and you could hear all these guitar tracks live that Billy wasn't even attempting to give the appearance of playing. Mötley Crüe is another culprit, Nikkí Sixx has a behemoth of a synth bass track running alongside his TBird playing. It's an octave lower and gives him this monster sound.

I saw a thread about her at TDPRI last month when she passed. No doubt her family and personal friends would care, but why would anyone else?

Dave, she showed incredible dedication to her heroes of the craft, to the point that she was put into lyrics of at least a couple songs. I wouldn’t be surprised if Connie was the inspiration for the title of Jeff Beck’s “Head for Backstage Pass”. There’s no arguing that she was a legend in her time. They should have an exhibit in the Rock and roll hof for her, probably featuring some knee pads.  ;D

She was just a groupie. IMHO no amount of inspiration makes her newsworthy.

Don't be so tough on the poor girl, Dave. Groupies were a vital part of the whole 70ies rock star excess mythology. Without them, it would be like cowboys sans saloon girls.

I didn't know you had a rock'n'roll record
Until I saw your picture on another guy's jacket
