The Bass Zone / Re: "When in doubt, get a Fender P-bass"

I do remember. With its mighty 50cc engine, you could meet them even if you were walking and they were riding.  ;D

Ahem! Do not disparage the Super Cub! It was also available in 70 and 90cc models. ;D

Nope they'd be 64 Chevy Biscaynes with 427s and four speeds. They can roar in the right hands, they're sleepers.
Pete Farndon also played an all black Rickenbacker 4001, you can hear it all over their first album.

A '64 Biscayne? With a 427 and 4-speed, it's gonna be a real beast to row around in traffic or as a daily driver. I see the P-Bass more as a Ford F-150 (coming from a Mopar guy!) - it's ubiquitous (with good reason), generally pretty sturdy, and can be used in a myriad of different applications. It's design is pretty basic, but is so well executed that it somehow seems to transcend its limitations.

Wasn't he recently hawking health insurance on TV? Yeah, that's just where I want to get my coverage - from the guy sandwiched between ShamWow and the Dean Martin Celebrity Roast collection at 3am... :o

It's because his life and behavior were beyond bizarre over the years. And he was personally responsible for all of it. If the drug abuse allegations are true, it's likely he's directly responsible for his own death.

Well said, Dave. The key word is "responsible". Not everybody is a victim, and when they are, it doesn't mean you have a lifetime membership in the club. At some point, you have to get up, dust yourself off and "start with the man in the mirror" (pun intended). Every one of us has to endure some kind of hardship, every one of us struggles with something - but ultimately, every one of us is responsible for our actions.

I understand that he had some 100 unrecorded songs that he left his kids.

He apparently has also left a mountain of debt ($.5b), plus they aren't sure whether the people who bought tickets for the "comeback" shows will get their money back. One source called it "the biggest mess this business has ever seen".

 " you fruit-vendoring Greek!"

Short of working in the packing department at the Fudge factory..............That's a pretty  :gay: job description.

 ;)

Once again, The Outpost finds itself, unwittingly, at the intersection of Dirt Road and the Hershey Highway...

Does he always turn into a fly?

Sometimes it's a hood/rapist (Death Wish) or Judd Hirsch's son (independence Day);D

My twisted mind immediately wonders:
1) Does McCartney get his songs back now?
2) Was he on the toilet like Elvis?
3) Will the Elephant Man's descendants try to buy Jacko's remains?
Sorry, this stuff just pops into my head - It's not like I work real hard at it or anything...

BTW, Ronnie - as bassist / vocalist for The Elves, sported an EB-0 onstage. Naturally - a short scale instrument.

I've often wondered how tall he really is.

With those of such diminutive stature, one usually wonders how short he really is. ;D
I love that he was in a band called Elf (or The Elves) with his cousin David "Rock" Feinstein, later of The Rods - who was also vertically challenged.

Ah, but is he older than Ronnie Dio? The year 1942 is generally considered to be accurate, but there are some reports that list 1939! In any case, RJD is probably pushing 70.  :o

I wonder how many of you who like it would actually be interested if it had never allegedly been owned by a celebrity bassist. With a big emphasis on alleged. Can the owner actually provide any real evidence of its history?

Well, Dave it IS a real Thunderbird, and setting aside the "pedigree" and accompanying price premium... I think it's cool as hell!
