...and why do banjo songs have different titles?
So you can tell them apart.

He listed it on eBay
and immediately sold it through the "make an offer" feature-

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Steinberger-Newburgh-XP-4-String-Electric-Bass-Guitar-red-Classic-/181330759293?pt=Guitar&hash=item2a3827ce7d&nma=true&si=NpVii5j5W1wDXC52jZeD0dUiJKk%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

The Indiana police have been notified of this
but the detective I've been dealing with is off till Monday.

Thanks Dave...

Yes, a police report was filed at the time of the theft.
I've contact that precinct
and I am in the process of tracking that report number down through "Public Records" here
but since this was stolen in 1988,
those reporst are on microfilm...

The only documentation I have at this point,
is the original warranty card with it's purchase date/serial number
and my original receipt.

It has been documented as stolen all over the web though.
That is what prompted the e-mails I received the morning this hit the web.

Thanks Uwe!

He's got it listed on his local CL-

http://southbend.craigslist.org/msg/4326690219.html

but I can't get a reply from the guy to confirm the serial number of the bass he's selling.
Although according to this listing,
he updated the ad the day after I e-mailed him.

The Outpost Cafe / My Stolen Steinberger- Legal Question
« on: February 15, 2014, 11:57:11 AM »
A bass with the serial number of my stolen Steinberger is for sale on another board.

I've e-mailed the seller but received no reply yet.

As with all Steinbergers, the serial number is on the neck.
The bass was white when I owned it
(25 years ago when it was stolen)
and now it's red with a red pick guard.
This makes me think the neck was bolted onto this body at some point.

Now...
Is the bass still mine
and do I have legal claim to it
or just the neck?

Any informed opinions are greatly appreciated.

Another one from Facebook that made me chuckle:
"Maybe Denver thought Seattle was going to get stoned too?"

Growing up in Washington we had the original Olympia (Oly, or Olies) and Rainer (Raindog) and yes, as a high scholl ruffian, trouble making, musician I drank quite a few!
Back in my young and dumb drinking days, when money was tight, I'd occasionally grab a 40 of Rainier.
That stuff use to seriously give me nightmares.

Just curious, but is there a certain reason that it has to be strictly one band or the other
as opposed to playing in more than one group?

Ahh yes, welcome to "the music biz".
 ;)

Rarely does everything go as planned,
especially on a multi-band bill
(Five minute change overs? Rrrrright. lol).

My son plays, has subbed for me
and has learned to expect the unexpected through my experiences.

It's how you react/handle it that makes the difference between;
"What a bunch of dicks"
and
"Those guys were cool"
which can mean either call backs or black ball.

Wait till he gets to learn the meaning of "percentage of the percentage",
has to meet pre-sale ticket quotas (AKA: Pay-to-Play),
deal with corporate gigs that only pay out according to their invoice cycle
or the lying doorman who collects the cover charge, claiming only X amount of people when the club was full.

Then there's the "pro" headliners that limit your use of sound/light equipment,
eat up your sound check time (if you get any at all)
and forbid you to sell your merch for less than theirs.

The all too famous idiot who double books the night
and you show up to find another band already there
(which is the ultimate test of grace).

Do any of these scenarios sound familiar to anyone?
 ;D

Call me jaded but nothing surprises me any more.

Just lead by example Dad-
Don't sweat the small shit and accentuate the positive.

Yes, I had this one cut out and tacked to my wall.

...but I seem to remember it being in color,
as if it were maybe from the Sunday comics?

Am I safe in assuming that Carol didn't see any of that "$$$"?
