used it at rehearsal tonight...i was not disappointed.  the lull pickup is tremendous.  I only have a 76 Bird to compare it too and it is  night and day.  the 76 is thinner and brighter.  this pickup is really thick sounding but clean.  i did notice that the bass had some buzz when the back was towards the amp only so i will try copper shielding on the cover.

some pics

only the camera and my hand in the reflection.  and i am dressed.....

I'm so glad you've tried the Lull pup!
Now I'm not the only one to know effing good they really are  ;)
Only thing I did different was CTS 250K pots and a .047 cap, which is exactly what Mike used on my single pup Lull.

Awesome bass! Congratulations

So Mark (in Seattle) 2 questions if you please.
1. Are there any differences between the Bridge and Neck pups on the original 60's birds?
if so
2. Does Mike make them in pairs or are they all the same?

I'm in the process of ordering a TH-2 Dark Honeyburst from Rob and I'm in a few minds as to how I should go with the pups.

there are many more gibson experts on outpost but i believe that the original 60's were the same.  I don't think anyone back then thought about string tension.....

the lulls are sold individually or in pairs and you need to specify which you want - neck or bridge.

I went with a .047 cap.  I used the 500K because traditionally.....blah blah blah.   i will now have to try out the 250k.  Mike seems to be the tbird expert so i trust his opinion.
I will probably add a second pickup now that i know how great they are.
or maybe save the 2 pickup setup for a fenderbird?

decisions...

Mike does make them as pair Brett. The '63 that he used to prototype was an exceptional one with (IIRC) an 8k neck and 9k bridge set of pups, so that's exactly how he sells them when purchased as a pair.
