So.......when everything's said and done, how much to get one of these to the US?

That's the $64,000 question.  I know that when I shipped a bass to Spain from here, UPS wanted $730, and USPS did it for about $110.  FedEx may be the only option.

Even without his parachute or encouraging words in a Gestapo interrogation cellar ("Arrre zey safe? Vee haff ze vvvays to make you meet delivery dates ..."), I received an email from Bach too. I certainly wasn't on the list, but I don't mind having one, these basses already now have a legend to them.

Well, you were on the list. You were going to check the prototype, remember?  ;)
And you even asked me if you could join on march 10 2008.
I put a questionmark behind your name because I wasn't sure.

If you don't want a BaCHbird, just send them a reply you'd rather pass. Okay?

No, I'm quite curious now and want to check one of them out. They look faithful, sound good from the reports of our qualified testers here and have a story to tell.

Too bad, Jules.

Yes, you're 51 on the list, just ahead of me.

Ouch that is bad Jules!

The good news is that BaCH is going to make more than just 50.
The first batch was 20. Now they're making a second batch of 50. That makes it a total of 70 BaCHbirds.
Looks like they finally sent all participants an email.

No, Sir! Not a word from Bach to northern Sweden. No a single word, and I did, of course, not get a single answer to any of the two mails I sent the company, during fall.
Now I'll be gone for a week, down to the southern parts of my lovely country, and - just maybe - hopefully there'll be a pulsating letter waiting when I get home...

Well, I got some signs of (alien?) czech life, after I send another email to them. They told me to be patient blah blah blah

No email here. I have hesitated to send one from my end just because of the language barrier, but maybe I should..?

Received the same email as everyone else, I don't think there is any particular order ( as Dave supposes, I too think they are apologizing to everyone for the delay ) as to shipping...........................we'll see. If BaCH has a North American distributor, I would hope that they would send the hole batch to them and then on to each of us, they could treat it as part of a regular shipment and probably save us a few bucks. Of course if they don't, all bets are off, 160 euro bass, $400.00 shipping & handling! owning a BaCh-bird.......well maybe not priceless

I can see it getting to $400 total. That wouldn't be bad at all.

Do they even have an American distributor?

I shipped a bass out of the U.K. about 2 years ago via Internation Mail (it arrived in Fedex) and my Greco came from Japan.....No problems cost was between 110.00 and 150.00.
