I hope you get yours too, Uwe. It'll be nice to see the BaCH one next to a real one.

Well, let's put it this way, it bears a passing similarity to another - long deleted - bass model whose origin and brand I cannot recall right now. :-X

My gosh that is pretty.
I haven't really followed this saga very closely. What is the pickup?

Also, I don't know what tuners it came with, but a set of Hiphot Ultralights cured my Greco's neck-diving tendencies:
Basses: Gibson lpb-1, Gibson dc jr tribute, Greco thunderbird, Danelectro dc, Ibanez blazer.  Amps: genz benz shuttle 6.0, EA CXL110, EA CXL112, Spark 40.  Guitars: Danelectro 59XT, rebuilt cheap LP copy

Neck diving. You just have to work, playing a Bird. I like that:)

The pick up is an Artec. They also make nice mudbucker copies and lots of other pick ups.

Gibson Non Revs are neck-heavy too. Like hell and much more than any Rev Bird. Great to hear they turned out so well!

I'm surprised. I've never played a non rev, but I would have assumed they would be better balanced due to having something resembling an upper horn.

Whatever they attempted, absence of a centerblock made them lighter and therefore neck-heavy. Or "heavy" is the wrong word as the bass is essentially light, just totally unbalanced.

It's also partly that Gibson, in most of their designs, liked to put a couple inches wood behind the bridge, which shifts the center of gravity in that direction. I dunno why they designed that way... purely visual aesthetics I'd guess.

The BacHbird weighs 5 kilograms. That is not exactly light.  ;)
Perhaps that is why the neckdive isn't too severe.

Just stitch a piece of velcro on the shoulder of your favorite gig shirt, and the other piece on your strap.

Nice white finish.  Like a good fleet rental car, it makes a nice base for whatever color you want to put over it.  By design?

5kg = 11 lbs, roughly?
Model One and Schallers?  Ish.

Now, Rob, you're the one who started this whole fantastic journey! You took us through dreams, nightmares, and towards a sun-a-rising in the happy east (east as Czech that is). I understand you've received your bass, Your Baby in fact. So how do you think she works? Are you satisfied, or do you feel like Muddy Waters who couldn't be just that, satisfied? I guess a lot of us wonders the same. So, come on! Give us your opinion! The full story! I'm really curios!!!

I still can't believe I have my own custom built non reverse thunderbird for such a price!
It is not just a nice bass for the money. It is a great bass. (and a huge one too ;D )

I've put on a heavier gauge strings, 'cause that is what I'm used to. I intonated it (because of those heaver strings). I'm glad I talked BaCH into making the bridge slightly wider -than the original- to allow for more saddle travel. So accurate intonation is a piece of cake on the BaCHbird.
The neck feels smooth, it plays like butter.
The sound is great as far as I can judge from playing it with headphones only. I haven't heard the BaCHbird with the band yet.
But so far it sounds really powerful.

Here's a small example. Straight into the desk. No eq. Sloppy playing ;)

The pickpuard looks a little too small as far as I can tell from the pictures that I've seen from the original.

I'll report some more once I've played it with the band.
But this bass is definitely growing on me. I'm loving it more every minute!
